Anthuriums ....From tea to flowers......
Our latest foray into the world of floriculture.
At Kolony Tea Estate, we have recently started cultivating high quality Anthurium Andreanum flowers. The name of Anthurium is derived from the Greek words Anthos and oura, which mean flower and tail respectively. Often called as the "little boys flower" this exotically beautiful and long-lasting flower is always presented as an example of paradise symbolizing all that is joyous, clear and fresh.
With the Anthurium, the consumer takes home a tropical surprise. Whether it concerns Anthurium as a cut flower or as a pot plant, it is an eye-catcher in every interior. In each new trend one will find an Anthurium, because of the many bright colors available.
The initial young plants were obtained from the leading, Anthura BV of Netherlands. The plants have been transplanted and are being cultivated in special shaded nurseries. Currently, we have six different varieties, from the traditional red and peachy orange to light pink as well as liver red, white and bright green. The harvested flowers are packed and shipped for sale to Calcutta and are sold under the brand Anthuria.
The anthurium is an evergreen hardy plant, which means that it produces flowers all round the year for a period of 6 - 7 years. When cared for, the flower can survive for 2 - 3 weeks.
These long-lasting flowers are perfect, as a gift to impress loved ones or grace any special occasions like weddings, anniversaries or birthdays.
